Sabía, shaman and poet María Sabina (1884-1985) was the woman who shared her wisdom and practices, at great personal cost, with “westerners” in the 1950s. Her generosity and sacrifice are in large part why we can partake of the healing power of psilocybin mushrooms today. This documentary gives a glimpse into her world and the Mazatec culture of Mexico she belonged to. (Film by Nicolás Echevarría, 1979).
